Binghamton, NY - Binghamton Fire Department crews responded to a commercial structure fire on Front Street after a fire ambulance crew detected the odor of something burning while in the area and began investigating. Smoke was soon observed coming from the roof and doorways of a laundry facility, prompting the upgrade to a full alarm.
Arriving units forced entry into the building and deployed a 300-foot handline as crews searched for the seat of the fire. Firefighters located a large commercial dryer actively burning inside the structure and quickly brought the fire under control.
Utilities to the building were secured, and additional crews deployed a backup handline to support operations. The swift detection and coordinated response helped contain the fire and limit further damage.
