RIVERSIDE, NJ - On April 17th, Riverside Fire Company No. 1 responded to a reported fire alarm activation at a mixed-use building on East Scott Street, housing a restaurant on the ground floor with apartments above. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke conditions inside the restaurant, prompting an upgrade to a full building fire response. Firefighters quickly located the source of the fire in the rear kitchen area and initiated an aggressive interior attack. The blaze was brought under control in a timely manner, with little to no extension beyond the area of origin, preventing further damage to the structure and adjoining residential units.
