ALLOWAY, NJ — April 20th — The Alloway Twp. A reported working structure fire prompted the fire department to react to the 40 block of East Main Street in the village of Alloway. While securing a water supply, first-arriving units established the presence of flames and launched a first attack. Companies that provide mutual aid were asked to help with exposure protection, suppression, and general scene operations. As command set responsibility and organized assignments, crews ran handlines and carried out searches.
In order to provide responding units access, traffic restriction was put in place and the public was told to stay away. Containment of the fire and overhaul to see whether it might be extended continued operations. Because of the surrounding structures and access issues, incidents in this region necessitate coordinated measures.
