Quick Knockdown: Westerly Crews Contain Garage Fire
Westerly, RI — Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire on Brass Ring Road, where the first arriving engine confirmed a working fire with smoke showing from the rear of a garage.
Crews rapidly deployed two 1¾-inch handlines and initiated an interior attack while additional units secured a water supply. A ladder company was positioned for potential vertical ventilation but was ultimately not needed. Mutual aid from the Watch Hill Fire Department assisted with manpower on scene.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes, preventing further extension and limiting damage. The cause remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Westerly Ambulance stood by during operations, and the Special Signal Fire Association / Providence Canteen provided refreshments for crews on scene.
