Engine 304 Supports Mutual Aid Fire Operation

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Hewlett, NY — April 5th — A working building fire in Valley Stream prompted the Hewlett Fire Department, located at 25 Franklin Ave., to react on a mutual aid assignment. When Chief of Department Velotti got there first, he saw smoke and sent out a signal 10 for fire on the first level of a two-story mixed-use building.

After laying in from a hydrant on Rockaway Avenue, Engine 304 extended an assault line and put it into action. In coordination with Valley Stream Fire Department units, crews worked on fire extension into an exposure and the second level. Confinement, water supply, and interior crew support were the main areas of operation. The event was brought under control thanks to a synchronized mutual aid reaction, according to officials.
