Hewlett, NY — March 31st — A working home fire near East End and Saddle Ridge Road was attended to by the Hewlett Fire Department, located at 25 Franklin Ave. After several calls, Engine 305 and Assistant Chief Legrow responded to an earlier alert. A two-story private home with strong flames was the subject of a working fire.
While other crews extended a total of four lines for fire attack, Engine 305 put an initial handline into service. Primary searches and ventilation were aided by firefighters from the Woodmere, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, and Inwood fire departments. Units worked for roughly ninety minutes before putting out the fire after searches turned up nothing.
