Rollover with Serious Injuries on NYS Thruway

NEWBURGH, NY - Winona Lake FD and Orange Lake FD responded to a serious rollover on the NYS Thruway northbound at mile marker 61.9, April 22nd.


Units arrived and found that everyone was out of the vehicles. Town of Newburgh EMS requested a Medevac placed on standby, which they then requested launched. LifeNet Air Two had a three-minute arrival time. Thruway traffic was stopped north/south while the Medevac landed.


The subject was transported from Town of Newburgh EMS to the medevac where they were lifted and transported to Westchester Medical Center. Good-Will FD was placed on standby while both fire departments were at the scene. Deputy Orange County Fire Coordinator 36-12 was also at the scene. Thruway Authority assisted with traffic control. New York State Police-Troop T is investigating the cause. Firefighters assisted with the injured party and checked the vehicles for hazards.
