FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY — April 5th — At a second alarm structure fire on Rockaway Avenue off Sunrise Highway, the Franklin Square and Munson Fire Department, situated at 841 Liberty Place, responded with Ladder 713 and department chiefs to help the Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department. Crews were assigned to truck company operations upon arrival, which included interior team support, overhaul, and ventilation. Chiefs were incorporated into the command structure to help with incoming unit coordination.
In Nassau County, second alarm assignments provide extra personnel and equipment to support prolonged fireground operations and preserve district coverage. In order to contain the situation, firefighters collaborated with other agencies. There were no further reports of injuries. Such mutual aid responses continue to be an essential component of regional fire department operations.
