BETHPAGE, NY — April 8th — In response to a third-alarm building fire in Glenwood, the Bethpage Fire Department provided mutual aid. The FAST (Firefighter Assist and Search Team) post, which focuses on firefighter safety during interior operations, was assigned to Ladder 4. Crews set up equipment upon arrival and got ready for quick deployment if necessary. FAST squads are a common feature at major incidents, offering emergency support to firemen in need.

Throughout the crisis, coordination and accountability were ensured by several departments operating under a single command structure. For the duration of operations, Ladder 4 was kept on standby as the designated FAST unit. The unit was liberated by command and put back into duty.
