ALBERTSON, NY — April 9th — During a multiple-alarm fire at a business structure, the Albertson Fire Company was sent to support the Glenwood Fire Company with an engine standby. While in approach, Engine 8011 was upgraded to the scene and instructed to lay a supply line and secure a hydrant. Crews supported ongoing suppression efforts by helping Syosset Truck 582 access the second side of the structure upon arrival.
A common strategy for larger commercial incidents needing coordinated efforts was the organization of several mutual help departments under a single command. Engine 8011 was sent to standby in Glenwood after completing responsibilities on the scene, guaranteeing ongoing fire protection coverage while companies cleaned the area.
