CENTER MORICHES, NY - The Center Moriches Fire Department was called to a reported house fire on Railroad Avenue, close to Pete's Path, shortly before midnight on March 28th.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered a one-story home with fire visible from the back of the building. While searching for extension throughout the house, crews stretched handlines and sought to control the fire.

The Mastic and Manorville Fire Departments' engines, East Moriches for RIT, Manorville EMS with an ambulance, and Brookhaven Fire Department's standby coverage at headquarters were among the mutual assistance units that helped on the scene.

In around 40 minutes, the fire was contained, and there were no reported injuries.

The Suffolk County Arson Squad and the Brookhaven Town incident Marshal's Office are still looking into what caused the fire.
