Chesterfield knocks vehicle fire on busy highway

CHESTERFIELD,VA-Firefighters were toned out on April 20 around 4 pm, for a vehicle with heavy fire on Route 288.

The Chesterfield Fire and EMS Engine shifted into high gear and arrived quickly on scene to find snarled and backed up traffic and a vehicle that had heavy fire showing.

The fire engine was angled to provide a traffic block around the work area and with lines stretched and protective gear donned, crews launched an aggressive attack on the flames.

The quick work of the firefighters made a fast knock down and the situation was soon brought under control.

"No injuries were reported." Said Lt Kenny Mitchell, of Chesterfield Fire and EMS.

The cause is under investigation.
