Fast-Moving Brush Fire Extends to Structures, Quickly Contained by Gorham Crews

Gorham, ME - Gorham Fire Department responded to multiple calls for service, including a significant outside fire that extended to two structures after a controlled burn escaped containment.


Crews arrived to find a rapidly spreading grass and brush fire threatening buildings on the property. Firefighters quickly initiated suppression efforts, limiting the fire’s spread to an area of approximately 200 by 200 feet. One structure sustained minor damage, while a second experienced moderate exterior damage.


The fire was brought under control in under 10 minutes, with crews remaining on scene to complete overhaul operations. Mutual aid assistance and station coverage were provided by departments from Buxton, Standish, Windham, Hollis, and Westbrook. The incident remains under investigation by the Maine Forest Service.
