At 21:09 on April 17th, Engine 9, Engine 7, Truck 7 and Car 1 were dispatched for an alarm activation. While en route, the remainder of the box assignment was dispatched upon notification from a citizen stating the building was on fire. The first units arrived on scene, reported smoke showing from the rear of a large residential multiple family dwelling. Car 1 arrived on scene, announced a “working fire “and assumed Incident Command as the additional units arrived. Heavy fire was observed coming from a top floor apartment and was extending into the roof and attic space. Hose lines were deployed with crews making an aggressive attack on the fire. While fire suppression efforts were underway, companies searched the building for occupants. Due to the size of the building and heavy fire conditions a 2nd and 3rd alarm was struck to bring in additional resources. All searches of the building were negative for occupants. Fire personnel did remove multiple cats, one of which was transported to veterinarian hospital for treatment. There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and under investigation by the Manchester Fire Marshal's division.
