BELLWOOD, PA — March 30th — The Blair County Communications Center sent Bellwood's Excelsior Fire Department No. 1 to investigate a domestic fire alarm. Command 22 came and took over after Quint 22 reacted with four soldiers. Crews monitored the atmosphere within the building and reported an active audible alarm. Carbon monoxide levels were found to be excessive, up to 45 parts per million. To find the source, firefighters started a methodical examination.

A defective HVAC unit was identified as the cause of the problem, and it was secured and turned off. There were no reported injuries. The National Fire Protection Association's guidelines emphasize the significance of CO detection and action in preventing occupant exposure.
