Fanwood Crews Respond to Pole Strike on North Avenue

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

FANWOOD, NJ, March 27th — A car crash damaging a utility pole prompted the Fanwood Fire Department to go to North Avenue. The local Rescue Squad and the Fanwood Police Department worked with Engine 7 and Ladder 1. Crews that arrived first secured the area and evaluated any electrical threats as well as the damaged pole. In addition to helping EMS staff with patient care, firefighters steadied the vehicle. Utility firms were asked to fix the affected infrastructure and make sure the area was secure.

Because of the possibility of live wires and service interruption, incidents involving utility poles necessitate coordinated operations. Maintaining safety requires prompt scene control and agency-to-agency communication. Crews were cleared after activities were finished, and the incident was successfully brought under control.
