This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

NORTHPORT, ME — March 18th — A reported structure fire on Atlantic Highway prompted the Northport Maine Volunteer Fire Department to respond. When units arrived, they launched a vigorous internal assault, extending handlines to the affected garage area. In order to stop the fire from spreading into the main house, crews sought to contain it.

Suppression and overhaul were aided by mutual assistance organizations from the Belfast, Lincolnville, and Belmont fire departments. During operations, traffic control along the route was managed by the Waldo County Sheriff's Office. Damage was limited since the fire was contained within the garage. Units restored to duty following the event, and no injuries were reported.
