Manchester Fire Rips Through Walnut Street Home

MANCHESTER, NH - Early Monday evening, April 10th, Manchester city firefighters responded to a fire on Walnut Street. While firefighters were mopping up a large brush fire off Reservoir Ave., calls came in for the building fire on Walnut Street at 5:53 P.M.


First due companies found heavy fire and smoke showing as crews immediately conducted searches and started to make an aggressive interior attack. City firefighters had a busy day.


"We were in the process of clearing a brush fire off Reservoir Ave.," said Manchester Fire Chief Ryan Cashin.


One occupant was rescued and flown to a Boston hospital in serious condtion.


"The firefighters did an amazing job. They came in with an aggressive fire attack on the first and second floors. They tried to get to the third floor before we pulled the companies out," said Chief Cashin.


The second-alarm was called at 5:54 P.M., and the under control was placed in at 7:59 P.M. as crews overhauled and put out hot spots. The fire is under investigation by the Manchester Fire Department and the NH State Fire Marshal's office.
