Just after 4:30 pm on April 1st 2026, Lancaster County Wide Communications dispatched the Rheems FD to a vehicle fire off Donegal St. in the Village of Rheems. Command 70 arrived to find a utility trailer well involved threatening a vinyl fence and nearby vegetation.
Rescue and Tanker 70 arrived shortly after dispatch, crews stretched a 200' attack line off Rescue 70 and began to extinguish and shortly after, overhaul the contaminants of what was in the trailer.
After a brief investigation, the cause was found to be a lithium-phosphate battery attached to a solar panel which was used for charging RC cars overheated/malfunctioned and ignited a collection of RC cars, boxes, and other materials.
The box was placed available just after 5pm.
