Ladder 101 Operates Defensively at New Brighton House Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

— March 28th — As part of the assignment, Ladder 101 was sent to New Brighton at 3:09 p.m. in response to a reported house fire.

A working fire on the Charlie side was reported by an approaching officer, and it quickly spread to the first and second divisions. Ladder 101 arrived, checked in with command, and was tasked with external operations after conditions worsened and a partial roof collapse necessitated a switch to defensive tactics.

In order to confine the fire, crews worked the ladder pipe on the Charlie side and established a water supply.

The department was also called to a reported mercury spill on the 500 block of Fifth Street while it was in operation. Assisting companies supplied coverage until the fire scene was cleared by units.
