DELTA, PA - In order to help the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. with a working house fire, the Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company Station 57 sent Engine 57 and Tanker 57 to the 4500 block of Slate Ridge Road, March 9th. First-arriving units reported heavy flames from the back of the house, confirming extension inside the structure, even though it had initially been dispatched as a gazebo fire. Tanker operations aided water delivery in an area with few hydrants, while Engine 57, the second-due engine, helped with an interior attack. For several hours, several departments worked to confine the fire and check for extension. During the incident, station coverage was given by Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company.
