Good Will Fire Company No. 1 was called to the vicinity of 585 Route 46 shortly after 4:00 p.m. due to a reported vehicle fire.
Chief 21 asked that Knowlton Township Fire and Rescue Company No. 1 (Station 41) be sent as the next-due company after spotting a column of smoke approximately a mile away while responding. Station 41 crews were returning from another vehicle fire call and responded to assist.
Firefighters from Stations 21 and 41 worked together to extinguish the fire. To enable crews to work safely, the New Jersey State Police and fire police units temporarily blocked Route 46. New Jersey Forest Fire Service also responded due to the fire’s proximity to wooded and brush areas. The fire was brought under control and all units cleared the scene and returned to quarters in approximately one hour.
