Hundreds rescued by West Bloomfield Fire Department at apartment fire

WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN - At approximately 10:30 am on April 9th, West Bloomfield Fire Department crews battled a fire located at Hechtman Federation Apartments 6690 West Maple Road.
Firefighters evacuated over 200 people from the structure. Some of the residents became trapped due to smoke on the upper floors requiring rescue operations to commence. The video from local TV stations choppers show firefighters rescuing numerous residents on the southeast side from the third floor via ground ladders by going from window to window.
This was an outstanding effort to save and rescue all residents.
