Lewiston Crews Battle Apartment Fire, 15 Residents Displaced

LEWISTON, ME - The Lewiston, Maine Fire Department was dispatched to the area of College and Davis Streets on April 6th for a reported structure fire in a nine-unit apartment building. Crews from Central Station arrived within minutes and encountered heavy fire on the third floor and in the middle stairwell.


Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack while simultaneously conducting a primary search to ensure all occupants were accounted for. One individual sustained minor injuries and was treated and released on scene by United Ambulance Service.


Approximately 15 residents were displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross of Northern New England. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
