Youngwood Rescue 26 Handles Entrapment Crash on Depot Street

YOUNGWOOD, PA — March 7th — One individual was reportedly trapped in a two-vehicle collision at Depot Street and Racetrack Road in the borough when the Youngwood Volunteer Fire Department, located at 104 S 2nd St., Youngwood, PA, responded. When Rescue 26 arrived, workers stabilized one of the cars before starting the extrication process. To release the confined individual, firefighters gained access to the patient by removing a door. The collision between the two cars affected five individuals in total.


Three people were sent to a neighboring hospital for assessment and treatment after mutual aid ambulance services helped on the spot. To help EMS and secure the cars, firefighters stayed on the scene. Coordination between fire and EMS personnel is necessary for these kinds of extraction calls, which are a regular element of rescue company operations.
