Structure Fire at Oxford Heights Apartment Complex

Westmere, NY - The Westmere Fire Department, supported by McKownville, Guilderland, and Fort Hunter Fire Departments, as well as Guilderland EMS and Guilderland Police, responded to a reported structure fire at the Oxford Heights Apartment Complex. Upon arrival, the first unit confirmed an active fire inside an apartment, prompting crews to initiate evacuation of the building to ensure resident safety.

Firefighters stretched a handline to the involved unit and made a quick interior attack, successfully knocking down the fire before it could extend beyond the apartment of origin. Their swift actions limited damage and prevented the incident from escalating into a larger building-wide event.

Once extinguishment and overhaul were completed, the building was checked for any additional hazards, and residents were allowed to return once the scene was deemed safe. No injuries were reported among occupants or responders.
