CARTERET, NJ - On Monday, April 6th at approximately 8:36 A.M., the Carteret Fire Department was dispatched to the Red Roof Inn on Roosevelt Ave. for a reported fire. Upon the first due engine's arrival, they had smoke showing from a hotel room on the 2nd floor and transmitted a working fire + a 2nd alarm.
Engine 3 arrived 2nd due and laid a supply line from the entrance to supply the 1st due engine. Companies quickly stretched a 2.5” attack line for suppression. Due to the door being locked, crews had to force entry.
Avenel Engine 5-1 assisted the first due engine in suppression while Woodbridge Truck 1-2-1 went to the roof to check for any fire. The fire was quickly knocked down and companies began overhaul. The fire was marked under control at 9:04 A.M.
Carteret Engines 2 and 3, Avenel Engine 5-1, Woodbridge Truck 1-2-1, and Perth Amboy Rescue 1 operated on the scene while Colonia Engine 12-3 and Iselin Ladder 9-2-4 covered fire headquarters.
