2 Alarm Fire at Blackwood Golf Course

Heavy smoke and Fire showing for the first arriving units.
At 13:57 hours the Birdsboro-Union Fire Department along with Quint 6 & Tanker 6, (Monarch) Montgomery County Tanker 57, (Stowe) Chester County Engine 64-1 for RIT, (North Coventry) and M680 Station 3 were dispatched to this location by Berks County Communications Center (BCCC) for a reported shed fire. At the Blackwood Golf Course 510 Red Corner Rd.
During the Departments response Quint 6 arrived and reported a working fire. A 2nd alarm was requested by Engine 7 as they arrived to find a 100'x50' Pole Barn well involved in fire. The building was light weight steel construction, which contained several commercial landscape machines used to manicure the Blackwood Golf Course, a golf cart repair area, and fuel storage.
Quint 6 and Tanker 6 arrived on location and placed hand-lines in service to attack the fire. When Engine 7 arrived on location the crew deployed additional large diameter hand-lines. Tower 7 arrived on location and was instructed to setup for elevated master streams. Due to the large volume of fire, a decision was made to only attack the fire from the exterior, known as a defensive attack. The roof of the building collapsed approximately 20 minutes after the fire department arrived.The fire was placed under control at 15:30.
