Lisbon, ME - Lisbon Fire units responded to Williams Road to assist Sabattus Fire Department with a barn fire. Lisbon Engine 7 with a crew of three, Truck 6 with four personnel, and Chief 501 arrived to support crews already operating on scene. Firefighters worked together to stretch additional hose lines and establish a tanker shuttle due to the rural setting and limited water supply. Tankers from several neighboring communities transported water from a hydrant fill site in Lisbon Falls.
Thanks to early notification from a family member and the coordinated efforts of all crews, the fire was contained to its area of origin and prevented from spreading to other parts of the barn or attached structures. During operations, firefighters also rescued eight ducklings from the fire area.
The fire was brought under control in the early morning on 17 March 2026 , with crews remaining on scene for overhaul before clearing. Mutual aid partners from Sabattus, Wales, Monmouth, Bowdoinham, Greene, Bowdoin, Litchfield, and Turner were instrumental in the response. The operation highlighted exceptional teamwork and coordination among all departments involved.
