Campton, NH - During a stormy evening, Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue, Woodstock Fire Department, and Thornton Police responded to a reported chimney fire in Thornton. While en route, crews were advised of smoke inside the residence, prompting the response to be upgraded and Plymouth Fire-Rescue added to the call.
Firefighters arrived to find an active chimney fire contained to the flue. Crews cleared the woodstove and cleanout, used a chimney chain to remove burning debris, and checked the home for fire extension and carbon monoxide. With no hazards found and the situation under control, the incoming Plymouth engine was canceled.
No injuries were reported. Residents are reminded to keep smoke and CO detectors in working order and to have chimneys cleaned regularly.
