WOODSTOCK, CT — March 10th — After a tragic structure fire was reported in Southbridge, crews from the Department Woodstock Vol Fire Association helped local agencies. Reports of a domestic fire with a potential occupant prompted the dispatch of fire crews. While personnel tried to control the fire conditions and check for extension, firefighters performed a primary search of the building. Before more resources were fully available, the search was finished under difficult circumstances.
The Quinebaug Volunteer Fire Department and other mutual aid organizations responded to assist with overhaul and suppression efforts. One person died as a result of the event, officials later revealed. The community and the responders who worked there were both impacted by the incident. As the response evolved, local media sources and regional alert services provided information.
