Fire Departments Quickly Contain Chimney Fire on Glen Road in Leyden

Bernardston, MA - The department responded on automatic mutual aid to a residence on Glen Road in Leyden after a chimney fire was reported. Car 1, Engine 2, and Engine 3 arrived on scene alongside Leyden Tanker 1 to assist with the incident.


Firefighters found a small but active fire within the chimney and promptly initiated suppression efforts. Crews worked carefully to ensure the flames were fully extinguished while also checking the structure for any potential extension into walls or the attic. Once the fire was contained, firefighters cleared the chimney of built-up debris and obstructions, reducing the risk of recurrence.


After thorough ventilation and safety checks, all units returned to service. The incident was handled efficiently thanks to the coordinated response of the involved departments, ensuring the residence remained safe for its occupants.
