NORTHWOOD, NH — March 29th — A complaint of black smoke emanating from the town transfer station prompted firefighters from the Northwood Fire-Rescue Department to react. Due to the duty crew's commitment to an ambulance response at the time of the incident, the Strafford Fire Department received a mutual assistance request for an engine. When Chief 1 arrived, he saw a car completely engulfed in flames that were pressing against a nearby propane tank. As more Northwood units responded, Strafford crews arrived and activated the first line.
Soon after, Engine 2, Rescue 1, and Ambulance 1 came to help with scene safety and fire suppression. No injuries were reported, and the fire was swiftly contained. Residents were reminded by officials to dial 9-1-1 to report emergencies.
