GALLITZIN, PA - On the night of Saturday, March 23rd, at approximately 10:30 P.M., Station 71 along with a first-alarm was dispatched to a house fire on the 300 block of Grant Street in Gallitzin Borough. The first-alarm assignment brought units from Gallitzin Fire Company No.1, Keystone Regional Fire & Rescue Department, Ashville Volunteer Fire Company, and Loretto Community Volunteer Fire Company.
71 Assistant Chief Patterson arrived first on scene to find light smoke conditions on the second-floor with a fire visible in a second-floor window on the second-floor. E71 laid a five-inch supply hose from the fire hydrant into the scene and personnel quickly deployed a one-and-three-quarter-inch attack line to the second-floor and made a quick knockdown on the fire.
Personnel from RE71, E70 and RE70 assisted with fire extinguishment, search, and overhaul; personnel from T60 laddered the building and personnel from RE60 provided the RIT. E73 was moved into Station 71 to cover alarms in District 71, 70 and 60. The fire was contained to the room of origin with no extension into the structure.
Special thank you to all fire departments that assisted with the fire and Cambria Alliance EMS for providing medical standby.
