Nottingham, NH — March 27th — Engine 3 was used for pump operations training by members of the Nottingham Fire Rescue Department's duty crew. The apparatus deck cannon and portable blitz gun, which are both intended to deliver massive amounts of water during defensive fire operations, were the main focus of the training. Firefighters practiced running water through the deck gun installed on the engine and went over pump controls.
The portable blitz gun, which can be placed on the ground to deliver a consistent, high-volume stream during building or commercial fires, was also used by the crews. Pump operators can stay up to date on engine capabilities and water flow control by receiving training on these equipment. Similar exercises are routinely carried out by departments to make sure workers are ready for situations requiring coordinated engine company operations and high-volume water streams.
