Foster, RI — March 7th — During a huge structure fire in Western Coventry, the FCVFC responded on mutual assistance to help firemen. Because there aren't many hydrants in the rural region, Tanker 3 was sent to assist with water delivery operations. As part of a tanker shuttle that supplied firefighters on the fireground, Tanker 3 transported roughly 15,000 gallons of water throughout the event. To help with operations and contain the fire, other agencies from throughout the area responded with extra equipment and staff.
A captain and other members stayed at Station 3 to provide coverage in Foster in the event of another incident while Tanker 3 operated at the scene. Such mutual help efforts continue to play a significant role in rural Rhode Island communities' fire safety.
