MANATEE COUNTY, FL - Southern Manatee Fire Rescue held a Change of Leadership ceremony to celebrate Chief Brian Gorski, a 45-year veteran of the fire service stepping down and passing responsibility to incoming Fire Chief Robert Bounds, Jr., who has been with Southern Manatee Fire Rescue for 25 years. Chief Gorski became Southern Manatee Fire Rescue’s Chief in 2013 after serving 30+ years as Fire Chief of Sarasota and Englewood Fire Control District. Chief Gorski and Chief Bounds have worked side by side for six years, in which time the district has made tremendous advances in technologies and service deliveries to include advanced life support, hazardous materials response, and many other areas.
