ROCHELLE PARK, NJ - At 1:13 A.M on the morning of April 1st, Rochelle Park firefighters were dispatched to 17 Somerville St. on a reported fire.
Arriving police officers confirmed smoke showing. Chief of Dept. Charlie Greco arrived, saw visible fire from the home and transmitted the working fire, bringing Maywood and Hackensack companies to the scene.
On arrival of Engine 1, the crew immediately stretched a line and began knocking down fire. Crews from Truck 1 and Maywood Truck 17 conducted a primary search and confirmed the home was safely evacuated. Engine 2, along with Maywood Engine 19, stretched a second line to the garage area while companies opened up and checked for extension.
Additional mutual aid from Saddle Brook and Paramus was used to cover the town. The main body of fire was quickly knocked down within minutes, and Chief Greco placed the incident under control within 40 minutes. There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
