Tough Fire Fight in Wilkins Township

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Wilkins Township, PA – At 10:36 P.M. on March 27th, firefighters were dispatched to the 400 block of Highland Avenue for a reported house on fire with multiple calls being received. Crews arrived to find a fully involved home situated on a narrow dead-end street with limited access. A water supply was attempted from several hydrants in the area, but with no success. Command then requested a tanker task force to respond to establish a water supply. Crews did what they could with tank water and water cans to contain the fire to the area around the house as multiple trees and brush had caught fire. When a water supply was finally established, crews were able to knock the remaining fire as the house was already a total loss. The fire was finally placed under control at 12:23 A.M. as crews remained on-scene for several more hours extinguishing hot spots. One person was home at the time of the fire and is being helped by the American Red Cross. The fire is now under investigation.
