Vehicle Rollover with Gas Leak Contained at Universal Rd & Webster Dr

Pen Hills, PA - On 20 march 2026 Friday evening, Stations 227, 223, and 222 were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover accident at the intersection of Universal Rd and Webster Dr. Upon arrival, 227RQ and PHEMS found an unoccupied vehicle resting on its side after striking a gas meter, resulting in an active gas leak.


Witnesses reported that the driver had fled the scene prior to the arrival of emergency responders. The operator was later located and detained by department.


Crews from 227RQ successfully isolated the gas leak and secured the scene. 227RQ remained on site for approximately one hour to assist with traffic control and debris removal. Once the area was deemed safe, the roadway was reopened to traffic.


Command was held by 227CHF. Units responding included 227RQ, 227CV, 223RQ, 222RQ, PHPD, and PHEMS.
