February 10, 2026 — The Stamford Volunteer Fire Department responded to an unexpected maintenance issue at the fire station after an ice dam formed along the rear roofline due to a failure in the heat tape system. The buildup caused water to back up into the station, ultimately dripping onto the furnace and shorting out the control system, resulting in a temporary loss of heat. Fire department members quickly worked to remove ice and snow from the roof to prevent further damage. Assistance from West Oil helped restore the heating system promptly, ensuring the station returned to normal operations.
