On March 14, at 8:12 p.m., the Berkshire Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire service call regarding a smoke alarm on State Highway 67 in the Town of Johnstown.
Dispatch informed the caller that a smoke alarm was blaring with an error code shown. When the incident commander arrived, he investigated the situation and requested that other responding units remain at the station on standby. After establishing the situation, the incident was resolved and the units returned to service.
According to department officials, the call marked the department's 30th response this year.
