Huntingdon, PA - On 9th March 2026 around 3:00 PM, Huntingdon County units were dispatched to a brush fire in Union Township, designated as Box 21-8. Brush 21 responded within two minutes with Chief 21 on board. Safety Officer 21-2 arrived first and reported a field well involved, with flames spreading toward the woods.
Brush 21 quickly deployed a line, while Tanker 21 sent additional personnel to assist. Brush 20 was directed to circle the field, placing a nozzleman on the apparatus to help with suppression efforts. Brush 10 was tasked with extinguishing a small burn pile at the fire’s origin.
As Brush 2 arrived on scene, Chief 10 reported a column of smoke approximately 500 yards away near a power line. Chief 21 ordered Brush 2 and Engine 21 to investigate, which turned out to be a controlled burn.
