Mutual Aid Assists East Rockaway Working Fire

EAST ROCKAWAY, NY — March 16th — On Monday night, the East Rockaway Fire Department responded to a house fire on Ryder Place. Within minutes, Assistant Chief A. Pignataro came and reported smoke coming from the eaves of a two-story private residence and a fire in the electrical meter pan. As more units arrived, a working fire was reported. Assistant Chief Bristol did a 360-degree evaluation of the organization and established command.


While Ladder 403 searched and opened walls to access concealed flames, Engine 405 and Engine 404 deployed two handlines to contain the fire. Engine 406 and Heavy Rescue 407 were two more units that assisted with operations. In roughly fifteen minutes, the fire was contained, and no casualties were reported. The Nassau County Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation, and mutual aid agencies provided assistance.
