2nd Alarm Destroys Two Vacant Camden Homes

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

While Camden companies were operating at an All Hands fire at 1910 Filmore Street in the south side of Camden, at approximately 1215 hours on Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Camden County Fire Alarm Room received calls reporting a house on fire at 4th and Stevens Street. First arriving units reported heavy fire showing from the 2nd and 3rd floors of a three story, ordinary constructed, end of the row home. Camden Engine Co 1 arrived and immediately went in service with their deck gun. The fire quickly went through the roof and spread to the attacked, similar constructed, three story row home on the B side. Since a full first alarm assignment was already operating on Filmore Street, several mutual aid companies were dispatched to the Stevens Street job. As conditions deteriorated, the second alarm was transmitted that brought in additional units including ladder companies in which their aerials would be put to work. Companies quickly put master streams and hoselines in operation which knocked down the heavy volume of fire. The fire was brought under control in under an hour and companies remained on location to hit the many hot spots that remained.
