YHFD Nears 200 Calls for 2026 After Busy Two Weeks

Firefighters from the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department (YHFD) responded to several major occurrences in the last two weeks, as the department approaches 200 calls in 2026.
Crews responded to an auto fire on Crompond Road on March 11th, along with multiple chiefs and engines.
On March 14th, divers assisted the Peekskill Fire Department with a water rescue. The vehicle's occupant was able to self-extricate, and YHFD divers assisted a towing business with vehicle removal.
On March 17th, firefighters responded to a technical rescue on Commerce Street when an employee's hand became entangled in a paper shredder. Crews securely rescued the patient, who was taken to a nearby hospital by EMS.
