Edgewater Park Fire Destroys Two Homes

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At approximately 1514 hours on March 20, 2026, the Burlington County Fire Alarm Room dispatched the Beverly Fire Department and automatic aid companies to 1026 Mt. Holly Road for the report of a dwelling fire. Initial reports were that the front porch was on fire. Beverly Fire Chief George Meredith arrived and reported heavy fire showing from division A of a three story, wood framed, twin dwelling. This well advanced fire was rapidly spreading throughout the dwelling and to the attached dwelling on the D side. An additional report was that there might be occupants still inside. Due to the heavy volume of fire, Chief Meredith ordered the first due engine company to initiate the fire attack with their deck gun as to knock down the main body of fire to allow crews to do a search and also slow the spread of fire into the exposure dwelling. Further reports proved that all occupants and pets were out of the houses. The fire was well advanced and the structural integrity of the building deteriorated so they transitioned to a defensive attack. Aerials were put to work as fire consumed the upper floors of both dwellings. There were no injuries reported.
