LAWRENCE, MA - Lawrence firefighters fought a fire in a one-story taxpayer on Essex Street in the early morning hours on March 17th.
Companies discovered a smoke condition inside the storefront and command struck a working fire. Companies could not initially locate the seat of the fire and command struck a second-alarm. Conditions deteriorated and command evacuated the building and went to defensive operations.
Command struck the third-alarm, bringing in mutual aid to the fire and to cover the city. Companies used four ladder pipes, as well as multiple handlines to knock down the fire. Crews remained on scene for several hours overhauling and checking for extension.
