Ass't Chief Tim Dexter-Walk Out

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

NEWBURGH, NY - At 9:00 A.M. on March 17th, Newburgh FD's dispatcher announced that Assistant Chief Tim Dexter, 20-year Firefighter for the Newburgh Fire Department, had worked his last tour with the department. Order was given for attention, and both active and retired members, family and friends saluted Tim as he walked out of the building. As he finished, he turned and gave one final salute.

Tim talked about how much fun he had with the fire department, how he would miss the guys, and that it's up to the current members to have everything go forward. He went on to say that his phone number will not change and that he will always be available. After a big applause, Tim hugged and shook hands with all who attended.

Good luck Tim, and thank you for your service!
