FALL RIVER, MA - On Saturday night, March 16th at 9:30 P.M., firefighters responded to a still alarm at Duro Textile Printers, 110 Chace Street, in the city's south end.

While responding, Command was notified that the large mill complex had active fire showing from the fourth-floor. When Command arrived on scene, he immediately called for an additional engine and a ladder. Command ordered Ladder 2 to raise their aerial and charge the ladder pipe. Command then ordered the incoming ladder trucks to take up positions at the corners of the brick mill and ordered engine companies to tap hydrants and be ready to feed the ladder trucks.

Ladder 2 was able to knock down the visible fire with the ladder pipe and crews made their way inside with handlines. One attack line was hoisted up the exterior of the building by hauling line and put into operation on the fire floor. The fire was quickly knocked down, and concerned neighbors were able to reenter their homes after being evacuated due to the potential of a disastrous fire engulfing the entire neighborhood. Command called for the Fire Investigation Unit to respond, as all indications pointed to an arson fire.
